Terrain Overview
Overview
A fine walk along
good paths throughout
From the roadside (A591) – Place
Fell
The path from the main road leads
across a footbridge that crosses Goldrill Beck
Sue and Ste head on towards Rooking
Looking back towards Patterdale and
a distant Sheffield Pike
At the end of the path a sign post
directs you off to the right through a handgate
The path leads on to the open fell
side
The start of the track that leads
up to Boredale Hause
The views open up as height is
gained
At Boredale
Hause the path turns back on itself and steepens as
it leads towards the summit
Approaching Round How which can
either be scrambled over or take the path to the left around it
Looking through the haze towards a snow capped Helvellyn
Looking over to Angletarn
Pikes and Brothers Water
Having negotiated Round How – the
summit cairn comes into view
Ste waiting for us to catch him up
on the summit approach
The summit trig point on Place Fell
Sue and me on the summit
Ste acquaints himself with Archie
while we chat to his owners
The Helvellyn
range through the haze
Looking towards Grey Crag and the
High Street range
Down below Patterdale
