Overview
I last did this walk about 8 or 9
years ago and did not fully record the route for my blog due to a number of
technical
issues, so this was a chance to put
that right and also to add another 2 fells on to Sue and Ste’s fell count. It’s
a very
straightforward walk on a path that
leads unerringly to both summits
The walk starts at Newlands Hause where there is ample free car parking space. The path
up to Knott Rigg is very
obvious from the start point
The initial section pulls up quite
steeply towards the rocky outcrop
Looking back to Moss Force from the
path
The path is stepped to assist with
the steepness
Looking across the Newlands valley
from the path
After the initial steep pull up to
the first rock outcrop the path levels off as it leads towards the summit
Looking across to the High Stile
ridge across Buttermere
At this point its very easy level
walking up to the summit seen here being dwarfed by Eel Crag and Sail in the
background
Approaching the summit of Knott
Rigg and a lovely view across to Derwent Water towards Blencathra
Causey Pike from near the summit
At the summit of Knott Rigg and an
icy blast to greet us. Spud seems none too impressed

and High Spy
Following the straightforward track
on to Ard Crags
The mile ridge between the two
summits is very easily crossed. Here we are on the summit of Ard Crags
