Walk Overview
A short and very popular walk from the centre of Bowness town. Astonishing
views from the summit
Any of the major car parks will do as a start point. we chose the one
half way up Crag Hill going out of the town. We paid £4 for 2 hours
From which ever car park you chose, head for the road that runs up behind
the Belsfield Hotel the A5074
Turn left and walk along Post Knot
Walk along the road towards the big house (currently under restoration) and
watch out for a very narrow path on the left that leadsw upwards
Blink and you will miss the path
Carry on through the hand gate and into a wooded area
The path is easy to follow as it cuts through the wooded area
Fairly soon the path leads into a clearing and a wooden gate at the foot
of the open fell side
Through the gate and on up the open fell side
The views start to open up fairly quickly
The summit comes in to view
Ste and I on the summit. Click here for a 360 degree view
Looking down the length of Windermere towards the Fairfield Horseshoe
Looking across to Bowfell and the Langdale Pikes from the summit
With views like this you dont really want to come down
The early evening shadows to cap what was a lovely day to be out on the Lakeland Fells
