Hello - This is my Lakeland Fell Walking blog ... Welcome

Why have I done one ? - well, I have been inspired by some of the amazing sites I have seen and visit regulary. I just love everything about the Lake District, its where I feel happy and content and if money ever allowed would move up there and live in a heartbeat. Having wanted to complete the 214 Wainwright Fells, I decided to record my walks for a number of reasons the first of which is to look back on when the old legs will no longer do what I want them to do. The second reason being my hope is that the way in which I describe the routes to take on the walks will be easy for other people to follow whilst at the same time not be being too much overloaded with unecessary detail.

One thing I have learned for sure is that Alfred Wainwright without the aid of GPS, Computers, his own transport was a man way ahead of his time. In my opinion whilst the geography of some of the routes he described may have changed drastically since he first wrote the guide books there has been nothing since that has been better. His books were a personal love letter to the Lake District and this notion is what I intend to create with my website
