A Fusedale Round

Walk          : A Fusedale Round: Hallin Fell (1,271ft), Steel Knotts (1,414ft), Wether Hill (2,210ft), Loadpot Hill (2,201ft),
                   Arthurs Pike (1,747ft), Bonscale Pike (1,718ft) from Howtown

Walk Overview

The walk starts from the far side of Ullswater at Howtown. There are several car
parking spaces at St Peters Church. Fine ridge walking after Wether Hill.

The path to Hallin Fell


Literally straight across the road from the Church the grass path that
leads directly to the top of Hallin Fell

After a gentle 20 minute climb, Ste reaches the summit of Hallin Fell
with its impressive summit cairn

The climb to Steel Knotts starts from a path that runs up the side of the Church
and climbs very steeply

On the path to Wether Hill


We then set off for Wether Hill which initially takes in the minor summit
of Brownthwaite Crag. The wall is a good guide

The old ruined hut at the head of the Fusedale valley, indicates the turning point
to reach the ridge line above

Once the ridge line is reached, head due North on a very good track
to the summit of Wether Hill

The track to Arthurs Pike


Carrying on there is a choice of heading right to Arthurs Pike, or veering left
towards Bonscale Pike. We chose to go to Arthurs Pike first

We had the pleasure of meeting these 3 amigos on the summit

We then double back on ourselves to visit Bonscale Pike, with its distinctive
fell side cairns

The return of the Ullswater Steamer to Howtown as we head down the
fell side back to the Church

A hot air balloon


As we journeyed back through Pooley Bridge we came across these guys
getting ready for a spectacular aerial view balloon ride. Perfect !!
