Walk Overview

A very straightforward walk starting on the A595 at Muncaster Castle
visitors car park. Parking is free and ample

Out of the car park turn left and walk a short distance along the A565
towards the start of the Fell Road track

Within 200 to 300 yards the start of the Fell Road track can be seen ahead

The track climbs gently for roughly a half mile

As the track levels off it enters a small wooded area

Take the right hand fork


Take the right hand fork at the clearing and head for a hand gate

Starting out on the open fell side. Keep to the left

Keep left and head for the dense forest


Keep left and head for the dense forest. Taking this line avoids losing height

The summit of Muncaster Fell comes into sight


Here at the edge of the dense forest, the summit of Muncaster Fell (Hooker Crag)
comes into sight

The wide grassy trod


Follow the wide grassy trod that swings to the right of the summit
