Walk Overview
Beautiful weather for this late in the year. This walk from Church Bridge in Troutbeck
picks up the Garburn Road and provides easy access to the summit just before the
top of the Garburn Pass. Good walking throughout.
Hard to believe but its the 2nd of October, not a cloud in sight, a freshening
breeze. Perfect climbing conditions
Starting out through the woods just opposite the Church
Almost immediately the views open up from the Garburn Road, here the Troutbeck
valley with the Tongue prominent in the middle

Past the stiles in the wall on the right hand side, the path continues upwards
The first barred gate, the path continues around past the old disused quarry

We continue to the second barred gate and the line of conifers ahead
mark the upper reaches of the Garburn Road
Looking across to Crinkle Crags as we approach the high point of the road
Just at the conifer plantation, look out for a wall stile on the right
The wall stile leads on to the open fell side to the right
Over the stile, double back on yourself and follow the line of the wall upwards
Just at the end of the wall veer left and head up towards the gap
between the two rock outcrops
A distinct track can be followed leading to the summit
